CPD programme for Vets and Nurses

4th October 2019

After many years of talking about it (and many years of being asked), Dr. Currivan has finally gotten the opportunity to develop a CPD programme for practices! A range of topics on the topic of surgery will be addressed over time, allowing the whole practice team to benefit from a sharing of our experience and expertise.

The first discussion topic is:

"Radiographic Positioning & Interpretation for Orthopaedics: getting the best from your images" and is suitable for vets and nurses though all of the practice team are welcome to attend.

This presentation is very interactive and contains a comprehensive supply of theory and practical advice to enable clinicians to obtain high-quality, diagnostic images of the most commonly imaged joints in dogs and cats.

The presentation is divided into sections that address the following:

  • The importance of obtaining good quality images
  • Use of positioning aids
  • How a correctly positioned radiograph should look
  • How a poorly composed image will appear and step-by-step comparison with diagnostic images to illustrate the differences
  • Practical discussion of the patient positioning necessary to obtain diagnostic images
  • An in-depth discussion of radiographic assessment of the stifles, hips (pelvis), elbows and shoulders

All delegates will come away with a better understanding of how radiographs of these joints should look. Should suboptimal images be obtained from future clinical cases, they will be equipped to identify the issues and understand how to correct them.

The presentation will last between 75-90 minutes depending on the group size and amount of interactive discussion undertaken.

This course is available either at your practice as a mid-morning/lunchtime CPD session or as an attendance course at WYVR. Please contact us for more details.
