Ginny, a 15 year old tortoiseshell cat had an unsightly growth above her left eye. The growth had been removed at an initial surgery, but it had unfortunately come back.

Healing from her first procedure had caused damage to her left eye and so this had to be removed. Because there was so little skin available in this area, Dr. Higson had to carefully plan how he was going to remove the growth and still be able close the wound afterwards. During Ginny's surgical procedure, Dr. Higson used a rotation-advancement flap - transplanting a piece of skin from her neck/jaw area to fill the defect left by removal of the tumour. Despite being elderly, Ginny recovered exceptionally well.

Two years later, she is still going about her normal daily routine, including jumping over the fences in her garden!
